Build a Tesla Turbine by Jerry LaBine

When Jerry LaBine showed me his first turbine back in 1993, I quickly surmised he was intent on making the best turbines in the world. Although his first model was somewhat crude, his desire for perfection was crystal clear. Now that he has constructed a number of them, with each successive one better than its predecessor, he has reached a plateau all his own.

Jerry has taken great pains in comprehending Tesla's methods of design as well as to execute them with his own unique talents. His latest generation of models can be described quite s1mply: they are superb.

With all of his success Jerry now wants you to get into the act. If you haven't built one before and your a little reluctant to get started, now is the time to expand your knowledge of the Tesla Turbine, from a practical standpoint.

Jerry will short-cut you into producing a good working model without a big financial burden. He is going to lead you there using parts and procedures which will make your effort a good sound one of which you can be proud.

This book contains everything you need to know. Other efforts have been done before and the working knowledge expressed, but they have been cumbersome for a beginner and not something you can do without a good machine shop behind you.

Having learned from scratch, Jerry knows what your up against and how to get around the rough spots.

What is most amazing is Jerry's creative approach in designing a turbine with parts which are readily available and assembly methods which will make your learning project a breeze.

I highly recommend this book which is the first in a series that Jerry LaBine will be producing.

WHO IS JERRY LABINE:

My name is Jerry LaBine. I am a self taught inventor and researcher. Although I do not have professional degrees, I fully understand the process of researching. First you have the idea, then you build a working model, then you gather as much data as possible. The data gathered will tell you what direction you need to go next. What I mean by data is to measure the voltages, amperages, revolutions per minute, pressure differentials, expansion and contraction of any alloys, temperature differentials, friction and wear, harmonics and / or resonance factors. These processes should be observed and dated by days, hours, minutes, seconds.

This process will eventually show patterns that will yield clues. From this information and observations you will find new ways to improve your product. Important: Take all the safety precautions that you can possibly take while running your
experiments. Expect the unexpected!

WHY THE TESLA TURBINE RESEARCH

What started us in our Tesla Turbine Research is the Wandering Star River Craft. The Wandering Star, put in simple terms, is a dream of ours to build a floating research lab in order to investigate all of the alternative energies that we keep hearing about, such as photo voltaic panels, solar beat exchangers, hydropower, wind generators, radiant cosmic energy, harmonics resonance, water purification systems, high buoyancy devices, turbine technologies, new forms of electromagnetic generators, and all forms of energy producing devices. No devices causing any form of pollution will be utilized on this craft, such as fossil fuels, etc. Tesla turbines will propel the Wandering Star Independent Research Craft along with many of the devices that we have produced.

Thank You, Jerry R. LaBine

Nikola Tesla was known for the development and the production of A.C. current. Many devices about electrical power, and wireless transmission, were his specialty. While he is known for his electrical feats, it is a little known fact that he also designed and built a turbine, but did not pursue it. In 1902 he announced that he was going to build a power house in a hat. In 1906 he produced his first turbine Six inch disks made of German silver, the disks were 1/32 inches thick with a spacing between the disks of 1/32 inches. Eight [8] disks formed a rotor that was 1 1/2 inch thick. It was mounted on a shaft that was six [6] inches long. The rotor was set in a casing made of four parts bolted together. With 125 psi of compressed air averaging a high speed of 35,000 rpm. At this speed the centrifugal force was determined to put out the equivalency of 30 HP. To date, no motor of this size, weight, or dimension has ever produced this much horse power!

The prototypes in this series of books are written in order for you to better understand the characteristics and performance of this type of turbine. Patent number 1,061,206 was issued to Nikola Tesla on May 6, 1913. This patent can be obtained through the U.S. Patent Office, or you can buy several publications that are available from the International Tesla Society.

Book one will take you through the process and show you how to build a simple Tesla turbine with limited tools. If you can drill a hole in a piece of wood, assemble nuts and bolts, know how to use a soldering iron, or glue, you will be able to build a Tesla Turbine!

We recommend that you read this book all the way through a few times in order to get a better understanding of the principles involved in building this Tesla Turbine. You should also locate all of your materials before you actually start building.

To make the building of this turbine easier for you, we have researched materials that are on the market and easily available today. Our aim is to help you to build your first Tesla Turbine with materials that are easy to obtain, will need very little alterations on them, and be extremely affordable. We will make it so easy for you to build this turbine, that you will actually enjoy this entire project.

I personally have purchased a variety of projects that became a much bigger chore than it was worth. I have purchased do-it-yourself books that did not have enough information, and strange parts were left to the last chapter before you would find out that even a machinist would have a difficult time building it. Not to mention the fact that your $50.00 project required a $700.00 part! So, before you start this project, locate all the parts and price them Then you make the decision of building this turbine or not building it. We will tell you where to go in order to find all the parts necessary.

Skipping ahead in the book passing the diagrams and construction information:

The Tesla turbine has also been referred to as a high viscosity turbine. Depending on the viscosity of the prime mover, or the substance that you want to move, the adhesion qualities will change.

In the case of an aircraft, the viscosity of the air adheres to the surface and causes drag. The drag that they try to get rid of, and is a hindrance to the aircraft, is exactly what you want to occur in the Tesla turbine.

In order to get rid of the adhesion, the manufacturer's who make golf balls put dimples on them, these dimples cause turbulent flow which in turn causes the ball to flow easily through the air. Therefore, you want the surface of the disk to be highly polished. If your Tesla turbine is to be a motor, and you inject air or water into it at the outer edge of the blades through adhesion and viscosity, the blades will be grabbed and taken along for the ride. My way of explaining this process in a dramatic way is to refer to the Tesla turbine as a tornado in a can.
